Posted on 26. Oct, 2010 by Nora Betz in Green Trends
There has been a growing demand for green real estate that has initiated a market change from the ground up. More and more residents are choosing to live in green properties when given the option. Having a green certification helps you distinguish yourself as a leader in today’s competitive environment.
In this way, becoming credentialed in green property management is attractive to tenants and owners alike. After all, green property managers are experts in conserving costly resources and this naturally translates to saving money. Who doesn’t like the sound of someone saving you money?
With NAR’s (National Association of Realtors) Green Designation you will learn valuable information on topics like energy efficiency and sustainability. This title can be yours with the completion of a short educational training program. First, you will need to complete the “core course” and pass the final examination. Within that same year, you will need to complete an additional elective course in green property management and pass its examination. At this point, you can submit the “green designation application form” and then maintain active membership in the National Association of Realtors and the Green Resource Council.
The educational classes are highly accessible. They are taught by various approved organizations all over the United States via online classes, seminars, and more. Mandatory course work includes: water efficiency, indoor air quality, green building practices and principles, energy efficiency, pest management, and operations and maintenance.
