Sometimes we don’t think that the green cleaners are going to work as well as the cleaning products we saw our mothers use. Can natural plant-derived formulas work as well as toxic chemicals to clean our bathrooms? Today, many people are voting with their dollars and buying more green household cleaning products. Choosing green cleaners is a great way to go green at the property management office and in your home.

On the Oprah website, she lists how to make your own green window cleaner using natural ingredients from your kitchen cabinet. The vinegar, pure liquid vegetable soap, and water solution claims to effectively make your windows steak-free and clean. There are a number of celebrities endorsing this green life-style. Sophie Uliano, author of Gorgeously Green: 8 Simple Steps to an Earth-Friendly Life, is also featured on the Oprah site. She creates her own cleaner called the “Gorgeously Green All-Purpose Spray” using tea tree oil, white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, drops of lavender or lemongrass essential oil, and other ingredients to clean tile, wood, and stone. If you add about 10 drops of citronella essential oil to the spray, it becomes a great insect repellent to use on warm summer nights.

For people who are not interested or don’t have time to mix their own cleaners, there are several green brands available at local grocery stores. For example, Seventh Generation is a company that has many different products like bathroom cleaners as wells as trash bags and paper towels made from recycled materials. These products are reasonably priced but the pride that you feel using a healthier product in your home or office is always worth a couple of extra dollars.

The green trend is gaining momentum and large companies are coming out with a green product line to meet the demand of people looking to live a non-toxic and eco-conscience life style. Green Works is a green cleaning product line brought to you by Clorox. Green Works states that their products are not tested on animals, use sustainable packaging whenever possible, and are made with plant and mineral-based cleaning ingredients. These products are available in stores like Walgreens and Walmart.

Residents with small children and pets will be particularly interested in knowing that green cleaning products were used on their home during the move-in and move-out process. Many people are choosing to live a healthy and eco-friendly life-style and will appreciate your green approach.
